Brandon Jones, driving the No. 9 for JR Motorsports, achieved a significant milestone in the NASCAR Xfinity Series by tying the Martinsville track qualifying record and securing the provisional pole position (P1) for the DUDE Wipes 250. However, his accomplishment was overshadowed by a technical issue, as his team discovered a hairline crack in his brake rotor. Despite this, Jones will have to start from the rear of the pack, a decision stemming from Xfinity Series regulations on parts replacement. This was Jones's first career pole, achieved with JR Motorsports. The issue with the brake rotor was identified as a crack in the left-front, necessitating a change. This development adds a layer of challenge for Jones, who had previously won the 2022 spring race at Martinsville racing for Joe Gibbs Racing. Custer and Creed qualified P2 & P3, respectively.

Brandon Jones will have to drop to the rear tomorrow as the team will have to change a brake rotor. In Cup, that change is not to-the-rear b/c single-sourced part. In Xfinity, it is not so it is to-the-rear.
Brandon Jones (currently P1) says that he will drop to the rear on Saturday before the race as his team found a hairline crack in his brake rotor. They'll have to change the rotor. #NASCAR
