NASCAR's Senior Vice President of Competition, Elton Sawyer, addressed the Cup Series drivers during a meeting before the race. He referred to an incident during the Truck Series race on Friday night, stating that they witnessed what not to do. Sawyer commended the Xfinity field for their clean and hard racing the previous night. Kevin Harvick was also recognized during the meeting for his final Cup start.
