NASCAR plans to use mufflers at the Busch Light Clash and the Chicago Street Race in 2024 to reduce noise levels by 4-6 decibels. The decision comes after drivers expressed dissatisfaction with the sound and durability of the mufflers used in the previous year. Additionally, NASCAR will reintroduce stage breaks at all events for 2024. The Xfinity series will switch to a smaller 9-gallon dump can to reduce weight by 10-15 pounds and address heat issues in the cars. The move is aimed at allowing smaller or weaker individuals to handle refueling. The rear windshield of Xfinity cars will have slits similar to those in Cup cars.
