Fox Sports has announced a significant expansion of its motorsports coverage for 2024. For the first time since 2001, the NASCAR Cup Series season on FOX and FS1 saw a year-over-year increase in viewership, despite a rain-postponed Daytona 500. Additionally, Fox will now broadcast both the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500, two of the biggest races in motorsports. In a major move, Fox will air all 17 IndyCar races on its main network, with practice and qualifying sessions on FS1 and FS2, and the Indy NXT Series mostly on FS1. This is in contrast to only five of the 14 NASCAR Cup Series races being aired on the main Fox network. Fox will also air 19 IndyCar windows, including both days of Indy 500 qualifying. Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks believes this comprehensive coverage will create a 'great halo effect' for all motorsports by integrating the NASCAR and IndyCar schedules.
Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks says he told @NASCAR CEO Jim France that he thinks there's going to be a "great halo effect for all of motorsports once you put the two schedules together [with @IndyCar] ... because a lot of time, they're going to be leading in and out of each other."
For context, Fox is only putting five of its 14 NASCAR Cup Series races on big Fox next year while airing 19 IndyCar windows on network (the 17 races plus both days of Indy 500 qualifying). Wow. https://t.co/6KNLYnskoi
Get this: Not only will Fox put all 17 IndyCar races on big Fox…all practice/quals be on either FS1/FS2 AND the Indy NXT Series will be mostly on FS1. Big big play by Fox here. https://t.co/SnOXrVwSVR
FOX will now have two of the biggest races in all of motorsports with the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 - hard to believe one network will now have both races
🚨Weather couldn’t rain on the @NASCARonFOX parade this year! For the first time since 2001, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season on FOX & FS1 was up year-over-year, despite a rain-postponed Daytona 500 📈 https://t.co/f8zjgCiYAS
