At Bristol Motor Speedway, the application of resin instead of PJ1 has led to mixed reactions from drivers and concerns over tire wear. The resin was applied on Thursday and no additional applications have been planned. Drivers like Martin Truex Jr. mentioned difficulties with grip and described the marbles on the resin lane as terrible, experiencing a big wiggle. Chris Buescher, William Byron, and John Hunter Nemechek also expressed concerns during their practice and qualifying sessions. Conversely, Kyle Busch, Zane Smith, and Matt Crafton did not report significant issues during the truck race, with mixed views on whether additional resin should be applied for the Cup cars. Goodyear's Greg Stucker acknowledged the tire wear as 'too drastic', attributing it to the inability of the track to lay down rubber as it did previously. The tire used is the same as last fall, raising questions about the resin's impact.

"It's the same tire combination (from 2023), obviously the difference is resin." -Goodyear Director Greg Stucker on the tire issues at Bristol: 📹@m_massie22 #NASCAR https://t.co/Z8s9atMcow
The tire that just came off the No. 11 that they showed on FOX didn't look too bad at all. Let's not overreact to the tire situation... #NASCAR
Biggest question mark from today is why the same tire used last fall is not laying rubber on the track this spring. No one seems to have the answer at the moment. #NASCAR
#NASCAR ... Resin was used on the track at Bristol instead of PJ1 this year. Goodyear's Greg Stucker: "I still think the racetrack should be taking rubber as it did last fall. ... Still a bit of an unknown as far as why it's not behaving the same way, that being the racetrack."
Goodyear's Greg Stucker says tire wear is 'too drastic.' Says it's because rubber is not laying down and they need to understand why. The only variable is resin instead of PJ1. Tire wear is good but this is too much Greg concedes. https://t.co/CCHtgxVoFx
Greg Stucker of Goodyear just visited the media center and said NASCAR and drivers asked for more tire wear. They did a test here for that. However, Stucker described today as a 'tough situation' and said the wear is too drastic.
Kyle Busch, Zane Smith and Matt Crafton didn’t see a huge impact from what resin was left on the Bristol track for the truck race. And some mixed views on whether NASCAR should apply additional resin for the Cup cars Sunday. https://t.co/rxHCGqxp73
Chris Buescher wasn’t a fan of the track conditions during practice and qualifying Saturday at Bristol. What Buescher, William Byron and John Hunter Nemechek said about the resin and its impact on grip levels. https://t.co/oPTMvZ6rsp
🗯️ “We really didn’t learn anything in practice at all, which is difficult. We don’t get much as it is and then to not learn anything is tough.” @MartinTruex_Jr weighs in on the resin and lack of grip in the bottom lane at Bristol. https://t.co/MjbMdcPHbz
Hard to know what to make of practice there. Martin Truex Jr. said the marbles on the resin lane (low lane) were terrible (and FS1 showed him with a big wiggle there). Another driver on radio (didn't catch who) said if you miss the low line by just a little bit, the lap is junk.
The resin was put down Thursday in the lower groove of the turns here at Bristol. Nothing additional has been applied today and so far plan is not to add more (although option is still to do so).
