Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended his term in office beyond its official end date by invoking martial law, which prohibits elections during wartime, as per Article 64 of the constitution. Zelensky's presidency was set to expire, but he has justified the extension by stating that his five-year term has not yet concluded due to the ongoing conflict with Russia. Elections, initially scheduled for March, were postponed. Critics argue that this move undermines democracy in Ukraine, with some labeling Zelensky a dictator. The situation has sparked debates on his legitimacy and the future of Ukraine's political landscape. The U.S. has spent over $200 billion to support Ukraine.
As Zelensky’s presidential term comes to an end, debates over his legitimacy and Ukraine’s political future intensify, write Jakub Parusinski and Olena Yermakova in this op-ed. https://t.co/eAR0jOKhkA

Zelensky's presidential term has officially expired. Elections for the Ukrainian leader’s post were supposed to take place in March, but were postponed by martial law. Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said the delays are indicative of a ‘failed state’. https://t.co/m8ZqnCGrcA
Zelensky banned opposing political parties and will now continue to remain in office without an election because of his own declaration of martial law. Thank God we've spent over $200 billion to defend democracy in Ukraine.

You’ve got to love the hypocrisy. Zelenskyy’s term as President has EXPIRED and he has refused to call an election. And Western leaders will look at us with a straight face and tell us our taxes are being sent there to defend democracy.
Zelensky understands any negotiations with Russia will lead to loss of territory that he would have to accept. He believes this would end his political career, maybe even his life after promising to return to 1991 border. Therefore he will keep the war going as long as he can.
Zelensky: My mandate has not yet expired "My five years as the president of the state have not yet ended. Due to the state of war, they are being extended," said Vladimir Zelenski. https://t.co/T15Zpkpbri
Zelensky’s term as President ended yesterday. He just extended it via martial law. And guess what, the Democrats and RINO’s who said Trump would do this are still supporting him and his failure of a war.

Here is the "democracy" that America is funding in Ukraine. Zelensky's term as Ukrainian president just ended. But he has suspended all elections and is still in power. https://t.co/8JgcQdWibC
Zelensky believes that his term as head of state has not yet expired "My five years [as president] are not over yet. Because of the martial law, they continue," Zelensky said in an interview with Reuters. https://t.co/bET45GpDqs
Zelensky campaigned in the early 2019 with the promise that he would be one term president if elected. Less than a year after getting elected he changed his mind. Now he wants to stay in power forever. He won't step down voluntarily, someone will send him into retirement.
Zelensky is de facto illegitimate. No Ukrainian would vote for the butcher of the Ukraine if he runs for a second term as president. Becoming a dictator is the only way for him to stay in power. https://t.co/WWvhqf8xYp
Their new excuse for not holding elections is … only when they recapture all of their territory. Which means Zelensky remains President as long as the USA funds the war. The only question now is, which country will he flee to in exile once his regime is ousted. https://t.co/TikTs1vVYo
