The Community Violence Intervention Leadership Academy, a new initiative aimed at reducing gun violence through community engagement and leadership, recently celebrated its inaugural graduation. The ceremony, held at the White House and presided over by Vice President Harris, honored graduates from across the country. Among the notable graduates were Nicole Myers, Myesha Watkins of The Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance, Lakeesha Eure of Newark, Leonard Dungee, and Lyle Muhammad. This program, facilitated by the University of Chicago, specifically targets future leaders working in communities of color to address and reduce gun violence. Representatives Espaillat, Shontel Brown, Donald Payne, Nikema, and Wilson, along with POTUS and VP, have expressed their pride and support for the graduates and the program's goals.
