Representatives Salinas, Jahana Hayes, Brian Fitzpatrick, Rosa DeLauro, and others have introduced new legislation to enhance mental health services across the US. As part of the #MentalHealthMonday initiative, veterans in crisis can now receive free mental health care at any VA or non-VA facility. The Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act, backed by AFTunion, aims to place a trained mental health professional in every school. The Mental Health Transparency Act, introduced by RepHorsford, seeks to simplify care and increase transparency for better-informed decisions. The Labor Caucus, including RepDavidTrone, Rep_Magaziner, and RepMarkPocan, met with NEAToday to discuss support for educators, coinciding with VP's announcement of a $285M investment to hire over 14,000 mental health professionals in schools.
At @Labor_Caucus today, we joined @NEAToday's @BeckyPringle to discuss educator shortages. Along with fair wages & better working conditions, mental health supports are needed! Thankfully, @VP just announced $285M to hire 14,000+ mental health professionals in schools. https://t.co/ea8yP4Jun0
Today, as @Labor_Caucus Co-Chair, I was honored to host @NEAToday President Becky Pringle. Today's meeting was about action — ensuring our education system creates good jobs for educators so they can support the next generation. https://t.co/gdMTE8dV7U
As America continues to face a mental health crisis, I'm introducing the #MentalHealthTransparency Act to simplify mental health care. It will ensure Nevadans & people across the nation get the info they need for informed care decisions by empowering consumers with transparency.
Today, @Labor_Caucus met with President @BeckyPringle of @NEAToday, an organization with 3 million members at every level of education. We discussed how we can support students and educators and tackle big issues like educator shortages, funding for schools, & more. https://t.co/Gf1w3hGE8c
Today, I joined my @Labor_Caucus colleagues in meeting with @NEAToday President Becky Pringle to discuss how we can help our nation's educators. In Congress, I'll never stop fighting to improve school mental health support, address educational inequities, & increase teacher pay. https://t.co/lWw4oH2kCm
Students are far more likely to use mental health services when they are accessible in their school building. That is why I introduced the Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act, to help ensure that every school has a trained, mental health professional. https://t.co/w0IgSvkZY4
As Co-Chair of the @bmhsudtf, I am proud to join Congresswoman @rosadelauro in introducing bipartisan legislation which addresses the shortages of mental health professionals in schools, https://t.co/JqIRD5WFSF
Robust mental health services in schools should be the norm, not the exception, and the Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act gets us one step closer to achieving that goal. Thank you for your leadership, @rosadelauro. https://t.co/x2zDJMy8TK
Children deserve easy access to trauma-informed mental health services. I joined @rosadelauro & @RepBrianFitz to introduce the Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act to increase the number of mental health professionals in our schools. https://t.co/CuPWIMtHhK https://t.co/jE4S42iPiq
Starting this month, veterans in crisis can now receive free mental health care at any VA or non-VA health care facility. The expansion of VA health care will save lives and deliver vital mental health services for those who have served. #MentalHealthMonday
