The surge in prices has outpaced the 20% increase in the Consumer Price Index during the same period. Additionally, since President Biden took office, shelter costs have risen by 7.2%, child care costs by 4.8%, food prices by 3.7%, and new car prices by 2.5%. Real wages, however, have decreased by 3.2%. Biden has attributed the high inflation to his economic policies.
