Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill 4, Injure 9, and Damage 24 Buildings in Russia's Kursk Region

Ukrainian forces conducted a series of drone attacks on Russia's Kursk region, targeting both military and civilian infrastructure. The strikes resulted in the destruction of a North Korean-supplied 170mm M1989 Koksan self-propelled gun, a Russian Ural truck, and a Strela-10 air defense system. Additionally, a Russian Lancet kamikaze drone was shot down by a Ukrainian FPV drone. The attacks extended to civilian areas, with a significant drone assault on the city of Kursk overnight, leading to the death of three civilians in the Belovsky district and one 85-year-old woman in the city itself. The strikes caused fires in multiple residential buildings, prompting evacuations and damaging 24 multi-story buildings. Nine people were injured in the city of Kursk. In response to these attacks, Russian forces launched a counteroffensive, targeting Ukrainian positions with an Iskander missile and 52 drones, of which Ukrainian air defenses downed 26. The Russian military also reported the use of an Ovod FPV drone controlled from Moscow via the Orbita system to strike a Ukrainian facility in Chasiv Yar, marking a new development in remote drone operations. Russian defenses claimed to have downed 109 drones over the Kursk region, with 115 UAVs targeting five regions in Russia.
