In 2021, MIT hired six high-level Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) officials. Two of them, Tracie Jones-Barrett and Alana Anderson, are now accused of being serial plagiarists. A recently filed complaint alleges that Jones-Barrett copied an entire section on 'ethical considerations' from a classmate in her Ph.D. program for her dissertation titled 'Cite A Sista.' The allegations have raised questions about the integrity of DEI officials at elite universities, especially since these hires were made in the wake of the 2020 racial reckoning following George Floyd's death. The complaint has notified MIT, Northeastern, and Boston College of these accusations, which include passing off huge chunks of other academics' work as their own.

The lowest of low hanging fruit: Fire academics who plagiarize. Will @MIT terminate the employment of their *serial* plagiarists? My bet is no. They won’t. Ergo the institution is complicit in fraud and corrupt. https://t.co/R7efrLTDD0
There's no hard proof that DEI is more prone to plagiarism than other fields. On the other hand, the fact that it's so rampant among DEI officers at /elite/ universities—which are theoretically hiring the most qualified DEI professionals—does suggest a field-wide problem. https://t.co/UxaV3DUmV3

DEI: How many diversity deans does MIT need? Evidently 6 with 2 being serial plagiarists. One of the new deans named Tracie Jones-Barrett in her dissertation titled, "Cite a Sista" stole an entire passage on 'ethical considerations' from her classmate. https://t.co/FqTYZmA5uu
