Two men, now facing charges of unlawful possession of a machine gun, were arrested after crashing a stolen car into a vehicle barricade near the Senate office buildings and USCP headquarters in Washington, D.C. Capitol Police recovered two Glock handguns, one from the car and another from a nearby flowerbed. This year, the USCP has confiscated over 30 guns. In a separate incident, officers were alerted to a man with a gun in Russell Senate Park, leading to the arrest of a man with a rifle walking towards Union Station. The Capitol Police also responded to a suspicious package in the Upper Senate Park, but later cleared the incident and reopened the area. Road closures were announced but have since been lifted. Police stated there is no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat.
