Turkey has intensified its military response following the death of nine soldiers in Iraq by launching a series of airstrikes against Kurdish militants in Iraq and Syria. The airstrikes have heavily impacted Syria's Kurdish-held northeast, hitting key infrastructure such as electricity stations in Qamishli and Darbasiyah, a grain storage site in Tal Tamir countryside, an oil field in Rmelan, a wedding hall, and a court building in Qamishlo, and in Zarkan. The attacks have left parts of Qamishli and its eastern countryside without power, and firefighters have been battling fires at the affected power stations. Turkish forces are also using drones to target Kurdish vehicles. Domestically, Turkey has detained 18 individuals for 'praising terrorism' after the soldiers' killing. The President of Turkey has vowed to widen military operations against Kurdish-linked groups in Iraq and Syria.
