President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Israel has accepted the conditions for a 60-day cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and that the draft agreement has been passed to Hamas for approval. Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump stressed that the offer is the ‘best and final’ opportunity for the militant group, warning that the situation ‘will only get worse’ if it is rejected.
Under the plan, the United States would work with Israel, Hamas, and regional intermediaries during the two-month pause to negotiate a permanent end to the conflict and facilitate the release of hostages and humanitarian aid. Trump credited Qatar and Egypt—longtime go-betweens in Gaza talks—with relaying the proposal to Hamas.
The announcement comes ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled 7 July visit to the White House, where the cease-fire and broader regional security issues, including Iran, are expected to dominate the agenda.
