The president also criticized the ongoing high-speed rail project in California, led by Governor Gavin Newsom, whom he referred to as 'Gavin Newscum'. Trump called the rail project a 'stupid project' with significant cost overruns, noting that it was planned to stop 25 miles short of both San Francisco and Los Angeles. He suggested that providing limousine service or using existing highways would have been more cost-effective. Trump announced that the federal government would no longer fund the rail project, citing its mismanagement and excessive costs. He also blamed Newsom for the fires in Los Angeles and mentioned that he had instructed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to halt federal funding for the project.
