Sudan has officially severed diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates, accusing the Gulf nation of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group involved in Sudan's ongoing civil conflict. This decision follows a series of drone strikes attributed to the RSF that targeted the strategic port city of Port Sudan over three days. Sudan's security and defense council labeled the UAE an "aggressor state" and cited the UAE's backing of the RSF as the primary reason for the diplomatic break. The announcement came shortly after the International Court of Justice dismissed Sudan's genocide case against Abu Dhabi, which had accused the UAE of complicity in atrocities. The severing of ties marks the end of a contentious partnership between Sudan and the UAE amid escalating violence and political tensions in the region.
