Various cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Volusia, and Miami Beach are opening winter shelters and warming centers to provide refuge for those in need during the cold weather. The City of Atlanta, New York City, and St. Petersburg, Florida have issued Code Blue alerts, urging people to call 311 if they see anyone at risk, especially those living on the street, to access shelter and accommodations. Transportation to and from the shelters is being provided in some locations.
