Senior Pentagon Official Arrested for Running 20-Year Dogfighting Ring, Accused of Executing Dogs with Jumper Cables

A senior Pentagon official, Frederick Douglass Moorefield Jr., has been arrested and charged with running a dogfighting ring for over 20 years. Moorefield, who held the position of Deputy Chief Information Officer for Command, Control, and Communications at the Office of the US Secretary of Defense, is accused of executing dogs that didn't die during matches using jumper cables. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a press release regarding the case. Moorefield was responsible for providing comments and information to journalists on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). The U.S. attorney's office in Maryland has stated that two men, including a Department of Defense official, were charged with promoting the dogfighting ring. Last month, law enforcement seized twelve dogs and found electrical equipment and jumper cables consistent with devices used to execute dogs at Moorefield's home. The case has sparked outrage and shock among the public.
