A bipartisan group of Virginia and Maryland members are opposing a proposal to add flights to Reagan National Airport, which is home to the busiest runway in America and designed to handle 15 million passengers annually. Last year, it served 24 million. Senators argue that the proposal, part of an FAA bill, is 'ridiculous and dangerous', would prioritize the convenience of lawmakers over public safety, exacerbate delays at an already congested airport, and decrease access to areas like West Virginia. They are calling for the removal of this provision from the FAA reauthorization.
It should go without saying that the safety of the traveling public should be a higher priority than the convenience of a few lawmakers who want direct flights home. More flights will further strain a facility at capacity. https://t.co/MK7WqY0GpS

Adding new flights at Reagan Airport would jeopardize passenger safety, increase flight congestion & decrease access to areas like WV that rely on this airport for economic opportunities. We must remove this provision from the FAA reauthorization. MORE: https://t.co/ibB2FfuHg6
