The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed two resolutions led by Senator Todd Young, highlighting the importance of career and technical education (CTE) and agricultural education in the United States. The first resolution designates February as National Career and Technical Education Month, recognizing the role of CTE in providing Hoosier students with hands-on experiences, addressing the skills gap, and paving a pathway to meaningful careers. The second resolution establishes February 17-24, 2024, as National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Week, acknowledging the significant contribution of the FFA in developing students through agricultural education, particularly noting the impact on over 13,000 Hoosier members. Additionally, various lawmakers, including Rep. Langworthy, who is leading the CAREERS Act to expand CTE opportunities in Western NY, Sen. Lummis from Wyoming, Dr. Neal Dunn representing FL02, Rep. Westerman, Steve Daines from MT, Sen. Joni Ernst from Iowa, and Rep. Eric Sorensen, have expressed their support for these initiatives, emphasizing the critical role of CTE and FFA in fostering economic growth, sustaining good-paying jobs, and preparing the next generation of leaders in agriculture across the United States.
