Ron DeSantis, the Republican Florida Governor, is back in Florida after his failed 2024 presidential bid. Despite this setback, he is still focused on addressing Washington's problems and has expressed his intention to run for the presidency in 2028. There are speculations about his potential role in the GOP, including the possibility of becoming the nominee if Trump steps down due to a conviction or plea deal. However, there is also opposition from some Trump supporters, who view DeSantis as working against Trump and have urged others not to unite with him. Financially, DeSantis' presidential campaign committee raised $6.7 million in Q4 and entered 2024 with $9.7 million banked.
Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign committee brought in $6.7M in Q4, spent $9.3M (mainly $9.18M on operating expenditures) and entered 2024 w/$9.7 million banked. https://t.co/ZAQs9Iy1As https://t.co/Nzbjdsi7wo
A Trump presidency, while very difficult would definitely be better than Biden. One upside of Trump over RFK Jr is Trump will be done in 4 years opening the door for DeSantis in 2028. Of course DeSantis would have to primary Trump's VP and likely get the same "traitor talk"…
Would a Trump plea deal involve him quitting the race?
Will Trump take a plea deal to avoid convictions? Could an aspect of that plea deal be dropping out of the race? Well the obvious problem here is that if Democrats are behind these prosecutions, why would they want him to drop out? Democrats WANT Trump to be the nominee.
REMINDER: It's not too late for Mr. Trump to drop out and endorse Gov. DeSantis. Literally no downside. It's the only path to take if you want to do some winning. I mean, the kind of winning that results in getting inaugurated and passing laws. https://t.co/qP9YXiDy8D
Grifters are attacking DeSantis—who dropped out and endorsed Mr. Trump—because they've realized that Mr. Trump can't win in November (he already lost in 2020 and is less popular now), so they're already making excuses for it. 10 more months.
Ron DeSantis super PAC quietly funnelled money into anti-Trump group Did you know that DeSantis “influencers” are still getting paid to attack Trump and his supporters online? You must never unite with these people. They are depraved, soulless, freaks. https://t.co/R9ErRmJEpO

DeSantis best strategy at this point is to continue leading with boldness and position himself to be the natural choice to replace Trump as the nominee when the inevitable day arrives that Trump must step down due to either conviction or a plea deal.
Mr. Trump doesn't have a campaign. He has a legal fund. It's not too late to drop out and endorse DeSantis. https://t.co/zpiwNgaz5o
Team DeSantis will unify behind Trump when Trump stops lying. So never.
If Trump steps aside due to a conviction or plea deal, DeSantis will become the nominee just like that. I think the GOP would choose DeSantis over Haley.
One reason Trump could pursue DeSantis as VP is to handle election fraud prevention. With his legal background and outstanding election integrity efforts in FL, DeSantis could head up efforts to make sure Trump doesn't get screwed this time.
Why would Trump take a plea deal? Because sentences tend to be far lighter if you save the courts the trouble of holding a trial. If such a plea deal involves Trump quitting the race, we'll need a new nominee.
