Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has not responded to multiple requests for comment regarding her reaction to former President Donald Trump's use of language similar to Adolf Hitler's in his weekend rhetoric. Critics, including Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler and political commentator Dean Obeidallah, have criticized Stefanik's silence, with Obeidallah suggesting that her silence implies agreement with Trump's statements. Stefanik was reported to have been at Mar-a-Lago meeting with Trump while not responding to the requests for comment.
It is unsurprising, yet no less appallingly disappointing, to see Congresswoman Stefanik remain silent when the leader of her party, Donald Trump, is despicably echoing the words of Adolf Hitler. We must call out antisemitism wherever we see it. https://t.co/x2XKIeXlBt
"Stefanik did not return multiple requests for comment from POLITICO yesterday about her reaction to the former president’s Hitlerian turn of phrase. We thought she was perhaps just too busy ... But ... [s]he was at Mar-a-Lago meeting with Trump." https://t.co/JwGYG2dhgf https://t.co/VwERyXhiy4
Republican officials are not silent in response to Trump quoting Hitler because they fear Trump, they are silent because they AGREE with Trump.
Any GOP elected official who does not LOUDLY condemn Trump's repeated quoting of Adolph Hitler is telling you they agree with Trump. I'm especially looking at GOP Rep Elise Stefanik who has REFUSED to comment despite being asked by many media outlets.
#veepstakes Stefanik did not return repeated requests for comment, however, about Trump's weekend rhetoric — which echoed Adolf Hitler's use of the term "blood poisoning" in his manifesto "Mein Kampf," where he criticized the mixing of races. https://t.co/qYNhz5rkuY
