Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.) has announced that he will vote for Jim Jordan in the second round of votes for the House Speaker, after previously voting for Kevin McCarthy on the first ballot. This decision comes as Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.) also maintains her support for McCarthy. With these votes, Jordan cannot afford to lose any more Republicans. The race for House Speaker continues with increasing tension as the second round of votes approaches.
LaMalfa's flip to Jordan was expected. Having said he would vote for McCarthy on first ballot and then Jordan.
