The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) has expired, leaving radiation-exposed individuals in Arizona without support. Bipartisan efforts in the Senate to extend and expand RECA have been blocked by Republicans in the House, causing outrage among lawmakers and victims who demand justice and eligibility expansion. Efforts to save RECA and provide long-overdue compensation are ongoing, with calls for swift action from House leadership.
Last night, Republicans on the Rules Committee voted down my amendment to require IVF coverage for federal employees who get insurance through the FEHB Program. The real kicker? Each of those Republicans will have access to IVF coverage themselves next year. Shameful.
RECA has now expired on the House’s watch after the Senate passed Senator Hawley’s proposal to reauthorize it TWICE. America’s nuclear radiation victims have waited too long for justice. https://t.co/bmz6PJqqGS
🚨 🚨Republicans AGAIN blocked the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. @SpeakerJohnson's Rules Committee just discarded our bipartisan amendment that would have extended & expanded RECA. Republicans continue to show they aren't willing to fix problems caused by the government.
Too many Washington lawmakers have forgotten there are still families here suffering from a long, harmful history of nuclear testing. I have not forgotten. Today, I joined victims & doctors in demanding @SpeakerJohnson extend RECA & expand eligibility for those who deserve it. https://t.co/TJXVlGbzzg
Today, RECA expires, leaving hundreds of radiation-exposed Arizonans without the support and compensation they deserve. I'm joining @RepGregStanton in calling on House leadership to swiftly act to expand RECA and to ensure that the program covers ALL affected Arizonans. https://t.co/7MHeh1Rx1O
The Senate passed legislation to extend and expand RECA twice with bipartisan support. @SpeakerJohnson must hold a vote on the Senate-passed bill to save RECA and provide long-overdue justice to victims. @HouseGOP cannot let this program expire without holding a single vote. https://t.co/oOHQTwnkJM
