The Palestinian Detainees Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners Society said administrative detainee Louay Faisal Nasrallah, 22, died on 30 June at Israel’s Soroka Medical Center after being transferred from the Naqab (Ketziot) Prison. The organisations, which monitor the conditions of Palestinians held by Israel, said no further details were immediately available on the circumstances of his death.
Nasrallah, from the northern West Bank city of Jenin, had been held without charge since 26 March 2024 under Israel’s administrative-detention procedure. His family said he had no known health problems before his arrest, according to a statement carried by Palestinian media.
The two prisoner-rights groups said Nasrallah is the 73rd Palestinian detainee whose death has been documented since the Gaza war began last October, bringing the total number of Palestinian prisoners who have died in Israeli custody since 1967 to 310. They called for an independent investigation and renewed appeals for international pressure on Israel over detainee conditions. Israeli authorities had not commented publicly on the death by late Monday.
