Pakistan Says 12 Indian Harop Drones Downed, Civilian Killed, Airports Closed After Strikes Near Lahore

Pakistan's military claims it shot down 12 Indian drones, identified as Israeli-made Harop loitering munitions, that entered Pakistani airspace at various locations overnight between May 7 and 8. The incident follows Indian strikes on multiple targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which Pakistan refers to as 'Operation Sindoor'. According to Pakistan's army spokesperson Lt. Pakistan temporarily closed airports in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore following the incidents. India has not commented on these claims. Pakistan has also claimed to have shot down up to 25–31 drones in some statements, and separately claimed to have downed Indian jets in related hostilities. The drone incursions come after an attack in India-administered Kashmir in April killed 26 people, mostly Indian tourists. India accused Pakistan of supporting the militants responsible, a charge Islamabad denies. Both sides have exchanged cross-border fire, and civilian casualties have been reported on both sides of the Line of Control.
