Lawmakers and the Biden administration are intensifying efforts to address corporate price gouging and lower costs for essential goods and services. Representative Jamaal Bowman and Senator Bernie Sanders introduced the Ending Corporate Greed Act to curb corporate profits and reduce prices, with Sanders advocating for a windfall profits tax. President Joe Biden and House Democrats are focusing on reducing child care costs, with Biden emphasizing the need for affordable child care to support working families. Senator Elizabeth Warren highlighted the economic benefits of universal child care, while Senator Mark Warner called for an enhanced child tax credit and expanded federal support for child care, including an Expanded CTC. Additionally, the Inflation Reduction Act has enabled Medicare to negotiate prescription drug costs and capped insulin prices for seniors.
"Lowering child-care costs should be a prominent message," @ByHeatherLong writes. https://t.co/xup7pRUuZm
It's clear: families in Washington state want—and need—affordable, quality child care. And I will keep fighting every day to pass my Child Care for Working Families Act to make that a reality. https://t.co/76x25esWwj
NV's seniors deserve the best, which is why I successfully fought to cap the cost of insulin & lower the cost of Rx drugs. And I'll fight against any extreme proposals that threaten their access to Social Security or Medicare. Nevada seniors know I will always have their back.
We're taking on these companies and when we win, seniors will save millions. Our bipartisan PBM Accountability Act passed committee 44-0. Now we need it brought to the floor for a vote. Our seniors shouldn't wait any longer. https://t.co/yu3zyEfNz1
Thanks to @POTUS Biden's Inflation Reduction Act: - Medicare, for the first time, can negotiate lower drug prices - No senior will pay more than $2,000 out-of-pocket for prescription drugs or more than $35 per month for insulin. It's a big deal! https://t.co/mSnM1ZJjwi
The high costs of groceries, gas, child care, & other everyday essentials are stretching hardworking Nevada families' budgets. I'm fighting corporate special interests to lower costs for all Nevadans, & I won’t stop until we cut costs & give families much-needed breathing room.
I am fighting hard in Congress to secure Medicare and Social Security benefits for our retirees. As we tackle the rising cost of living, I introduced a bipartisan bill to protect these critical resources. https://t.co/6A1eRH7My0
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we’ve: ✅ Enabled Medicare to negotiate prescription drug costs ✅ Capped the cost of Insulin to $35 per month for seniors ✅ Capped out-of-pocket costs for seniors on Medicare Let’s build on this progress!
For years, corporations have been ripping families off by raising prices while raking in record profits. As Amazon, Target and Walmart finally begin to lower prices, I’m pushing to find out why it took so long. https://t.co/8syNXp2tPU
We need to comprehensively rein in Rx drug prices. I wrote the law that finally empowered Medicare to negotiate drug prices and now I'm working to pass my bipartisan Lower Costs, More Transparency Act to crack down on pharmacy benefit managers. https://t.co/GnjCAnLLqF
Wonderful morning in Alexandria hearing from parents, providers, and advocates about the urgent need to expand access to affordable child care. Families are in crisis — we need to enhance the child tax credit and expand federal support for the industry to secure relief. https://t.co/oiwFt4kOY9
The American people are sick and tired of being ripped-off by corporations that continue to make record-breaking profits by price gouging Americans in virtually every sector of our economy. If CEOs won't end their greed, we must end it for them and pass a windfall profits tax. https://t.co/B7TJYl0fQQ
Too many families are struggling to find and afford child care. @POTUS and @HouseDemocrats have a plan to lower your costs and give every kid a great start ⬇️. https://t.co/i5JIeWuK69
Universal child care would be a huge win for families AND our economy. When parents can’t find child care, it keeps them from starting new jobs, and businesses have a harder time hiring. Child care makes it possible for people to go to work—just like roads and bridges.
From fighting to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs to fighting corporate greed by calling on corporations with record profits to lower prices—I will keep fighting for families like the ones I grew up with in Scranton.
Hardworking Americans should never have to deal with corporate rip-offs and unfair practices that keep prices high. Here’s how our Administration is tackling these fees head-on. https://t.co/pWgPMBzDOx
I’m working to bring child care costs down so moms and dads everywhere have more breathing room. https://t.co/aeR0203vKO
I've got a new piece out today for @ProgressChamber on how we can bring down childcare costs through supply-side reforms (zoning, occupational licensing, making it easier to hire au pairs, small changes to teacher-student rations) and an Expanded CTC. 1/3 https://t.co/bIIFyTuJDM
Since the pandemic, corporations have been ruthlessly price gouging, and hardworking people are struggling to keep up and pay for essential goods. I’m so proud to introduce the Ending Corporate Greed Act with @SenSanders to check corporate greed and lower costs across the board. https://t.co/xy6z6fmDes
