Lawmakers, including Rep. Colin Allred, Rep. Susan Wild, Sen. Maggie Hassan, and Sen. Dick Durbin, are urging the Department of Education to address delays in processing the new FAFSA form. These delays are affecting students, families, and institutions of higher education, hindering access to financial aid for college.
Applying for financial aid should be easy so students can pursue a higher education—& that's why I negotiated & got signed into law an overhaul of the FAFSA form to streamline the process. Now, rollout challenges must be addressed ASAP so families aren’t left behind. https://t.co/6YmAuISbyb
I, alongside @SenDuckworth, joined @SenSanders & @PattyMurray with more than 100 of our congressional colleagues in writing to @SecCardona to urge @usedgov to address the operational issues with the new FAFSA form that impacts millions of students across the country. Filling out the FAFSA helps students qualify for college financial aid. But delays with updates to it are impacting students, families & colleges. While I'm glad the administration is taking action to improve the process, it needs to keep working to quickly address the issues.
I’ve heard from families and institutions of higher education in our community about the consequences FAFSA delays have had on them. Recently, I wrote to the Department of Education to express my concerns and ask for clarity on the process moving forward. https://t.co/1ebwSV0h7w
The new FAFSA form was supposed to be easier and more effective for students and families. We cannot afford further delays. I joined my colleagues in calling on @usedgov to address FAFSA processing delays that are preventing students from accessing higher education. https://t.co/jKPYEPZKIQ
