GOING GREEN! Kilgore ISD in East Texas has announced the addition of electric school buses to their fleet, becoming the first district in the region to do so. This initiative has been made possible through an EPA grant that allowed the acquisition of four electric buses. Senator Jeff Merkley expressed excitement about the rollout of electric buses in Beaverton School District, highlighting the benefits for student health and the environment. Additionally, Austin ISD celebrated the introduction of their first three electric school buses and the procurement of $6.2M in federal funds to purchase 25 more, as part of their transition to cleaner energy. Representative Darren Soto also mentioned the EPA’s $5M Clean School Bus Program award for Orange County Public Schools during a meeting with the Environmental Advisory Board, alongside discussions on water projects, solar initiatives, and urban growth boundaries.
