Japan's space agency JAXA has achieved a significant milestone by successfully landing its SLIM spacecraft on the moon, marking the country as the fifth to accomplish such a feat. The landing, which took place on Saturday, was hailed as the world's first 'pinpoint lunar landing' with an unprecedented accuracy, confirmed to be within 3 to 4 meters of the intended target. Despite a last-minute engine scare and the lander ending up on its nose and upside down, the mission is still considered a success. The lander, nicknamed 'Moon Sniper,' was able to transmit images back to Earth, showcasing its precise landing approximately 55 meters from the target. The solar cells of the lander, however, failed to recharge after the landing, which occurred around five days ago. Additionally, the LEV-2 rover, released by the probe, captured the dramatic scene.
