Israel's Airstrikes Disable Yemen's Sanaa Airport, Destroying 3 Planes, in Retaliation to Iranian-Backed Houthi Attack

Israel's military conducted airstrikes on Tuesday that fully disabled Yemen's Sanaa International Airport, controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. The strikes were in retaliation to a Houthi missile attack on Israel's Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, the first instance of a Houthi missile penetrating Israel's air defenses. Prior to the strikes, the Israeli military issued a warning for civilians to evacuate the vicinity of Sanaa International Airport. The attack destroyed the airport's terminal, 3 out of 7 civilian aircraft, and service facilities, rendering the airport inoperable. Houthi media reported the strikes, and eyewitnesses described four strikes on the capital. In addition to the airport, the Israeli airstrikes targeted several power plants and a cement factory in the Sanaa area. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported the strikes, confirming that Houthi infrastructure was hit.
