The Israeli Defense Forces issued an unprecedented series of Persian-language alerts on 23 June, warning residents of Tehran to keep clear of regime-linked weapons plants, military bases and security institutions because Israeli strikes would “continue in the coming days.”
Hours later the military narrowed its guidance to specific neighbourhoods, ordering the immediate evacuation of District 7, including parts of Shariati and Enghelab streets, followed within an hour by similar orders for District 6 and the adjacent Mehran area. The IDF said remaining in the marked red zones “puts your life at risk” as it prepares to hit Iranian military infrastructure.
In a symmetric move, Iranian state media broadcast an evacuation notice for the Ramat Gan district of Tel Aviv, urging civilians to leave ahead of what it called imminent operations by the Iranian armed forces against Israeli military targets.
The tit-for-tat civilian warnings highlight an escalating conflict that began on 13 June with Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and missile facilities and has since drawn U.S. support for Israel and Iranian missile salvos against Israeli cities. The Iranian Health Ministry reports at least 430 dead and more than 3,500 wounded from Israeli attacks; Israeli officials say Iranian strikes have killed 25 people and injured several hundred.
Neither government provided a timeline for the threatened operations, and no independent confirmation of fresh strikes had emerged by late Monday night. International mediators have yet to make headway in halting the exchanges, and airspace restrictions remain in place over parts of both countries.
