Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said on Thursday that the country’s airspace is again available to international overflights and that most domestic and international flights will resume on 4 July. Operations will run daily between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. local time, covering Tehran’s Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini hubs as well as airports in the north, south, east and west of the country. The eastern airspace remains open around the clock, while Isfahan and Tabriz airports will stay closed until repairs are completed.
The decision restores a key corridor for carriers that had been diverting routes since mid-June. Central and western sectors—used heavily by long-haul services between Europe and Asia—are again available for daylight transit, easing fuel and time costs for airlines.
Iran fully closed its skies on 13 June after Israeli air strikes triggered a 12-day exchange of fire. A cease-fire on 24 June allowed gradual easing of restrictions in the east; Thursday’s move completes the reopening, albeit with daylight limits and two airports still offline pending infrastructure checks.
