Cities across Los Angeles County are scrapping or delaying Independence Day celebrations as federal immigration raids enter a fourth week. Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Whittier and several Los Angeles neighbourhoods—including Boyle Heights and El Sereno—have shelved parades, concerts and fireworks displays scheduled for 3–4 July. Los Angeles County’s Gloria Molina Grand Park Summer Block Party, which drew more than 20,000 spectators last year, has also been postponed, and Bell Gardens has frozen all civic events through 10 July.

Local officials said the decisions were made "out of an abundance of caution" after intensified U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations led many residents, particularly in Latino and mixed-status households, to avoid large gatherings. According to figures cited by several municipal statements and local media, ICE has arrested more than 2,000 people in the region since 6 June. Huntington Park has imposed a 30-day pause on summer events, citing reports of unmarked vehicles and federal agents operating without visible identification.

The cancellations add to a heightened security environment nationwide. Separate intelligence bulletins from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security warned that lone-actor extremists could target July 4 festivities in New York and San Francisco, though authorities said no specific threats have been identified in Southern California. Even so, community leaders in Los Angeles say resident safety and confidence remain the priority before any events are rescheduled.
