An Indian student from Hyderabad, Syed Mazahir Ali, pursuing higher studies in the United States, was brutally attacked and robbed at Union Station in Chicago. The incident occurred on February 4 around 1 am, and his wife received information about the attack at around 6 am via WhatsApp. Ali's wife made a video appeal and wrote to India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with the plea 'Help Me Bro'. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed concern over the incident and announced the establishment of a dedicated help desk to support Indian youth living abroad, particularly students. Despite the severity of the attack, no assistance has been provided to Ali yet. Prosecutors have linked the attack to a suspect released from jail in December due to Illinois' new 'cashless bail' law.
