Recent legislative actions in the House of Representatives have focused on enhancing support for emergency services and veterans. The Special District Grant Accessibility Act, introduced by Rep. Pat Fallon, passed the House, aiming to ensure rural special districts in Texas and beyond have equal access to funding for vital services like fire protection and ambulatory care. Concurrently, the House passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act, advocated by Rep. Tom Kean and supported by Rep. Jim Costa and Rep. Greg Stanton, to provide firefighters and EMS personnel with necessary resources and support. Additionally, a bill sponsored by Rep. Zach Nunn to improve access to mental health services for veterans transitioning to civilian life also received unanimous approval.
We rely on firefighters to respond to emergencies and protect our community, it's essential that we support them with the resources they need. That's why I'm backing the Fire Grants and Safety Act. Important meeting last week with Arizona’s Fire Chiefs. Congress must get our firefighters the support they need & deserve. Today, I'll be voting to reauthorize the Assistance to Firefighters & SAFER grant programs to provide them with resources for staffing & equipment. https://t.co/ZQh3jhOGcL

The transition from the tour of duty to civilian life can be really difficult for veterans. That’s why I’m fighting to ensure every veteran has access to the mental health support they need. My bill to do just that passed the House unanimously last week! https://t.co/ucj2VwDLxI
Proud to see my bill, the Special District Grant Accessibility Act, pass the House. Rural special districts provide vital fire protection & ambulatory services--over 3,300 exist in Texas alone. These communities deserve the same access to funding as state & local governments.
