The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan tax relief bill that includes a restoration of the Expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC), projected to lift 400,000 children out of poverty in its first year. The bill, if passed by the Senate, is expected to benefit millions of children across various states. In Oregon, an estimated 162,000 children would gain from the expanded CTC, while in Washington, 273,000 kids would be affected. In Connecticut, the bill is projected to uplift 16,000 children and families, in Rhode Island, another 16,000 kids, and in Northern Virginia, 13,000 children. In Pennsylvania, more than 500,000 children could be helped. Additionally, the bill includes tax credits for childcare, incentives for affordable housing, and provisions for disaster recovery. Concurrently, the House passed bills to improve border security and strengthen deportation standards for illegal immigrants, in response to a record number of illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border in December.
For decades, Democrats have sought to end child poverty. But now, a growing number of Republicans have joined an effort to expand the child tax credit, lift 400,000 kids out of poverty, and establish themselves as the pro-family party of the working class. @ZaidJilani https://t.co/QDvKvB9Wsa
Millions of families stand to gain from changes to the federal child tax credit included in a bipartisan bill passed by the House last week. https://t.co/fyf3LqsY9B
The House passed legislation that will feed more kids, bring more rental housing units online, and provide relief for those impacted by natural disasters. We compromised, but it’s a win for working families. https://t.co/JITGNN077q
302,000 unlawful migrants were encountered at our southern border in December ALONE. Last week, @HouseGOP passed four bills that would strengthen border security measures and increase accountability for those who violate our laws.
Last week, House Republicans passed FOUR strong, conservative bills to crack down on illegal immigration. We must continue to hold this Administration accountable for the historic crisis at our southern border. https://t.co/RfyDCLE4nH
Americans are yearning for government to take action on issues that impact their lives and livelihoods. We recently approved bipartisan legislation to expand tax credits for childcare, affordable housing, small businesses expensing, and disaster recovery. https://t.co/LhcpIR1YMz
Our nation is in dire need of more housing. In the bipartisan tax relief bill we passed last week, we expanded the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit – which will encourage developers to build more mixed-income housing units. Welcome news for many towns in eastern Connecticut.
Expanding the Child Tax Credit would provide much-needed breathing room for millions of hard-working families.
All Americans will benefit from this pro-growth, pro-American bill. The expanded child tax credit will help more than 500,000 children in Pennsylvania. https://t.co/bYTTW2CVii
This week, I helped pass legislation to expand the Child Tax Credit—positively impacting thousands of children here in #ROC. We're still fighting for more extensive reforms, but I'm pleased this will provide much-needed support for families. https://t.co/n4OuMjmVXB
Democrats fought tirelessly to revitalize the #ChildTaxCredit in the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This bill is a down payment on the future America’s families deserve—400,000 children could be lifted out of poverty in the first year alone.
The Child Tax Credit in the bipartisan bill we passed in the House this week will help kids in every state and locality, including 13,000 children in my Northern Virginia district, according to @JECDems estimates. That's a big deal! https://t.co/sNGJOLPjkw
ICYMI: This week, I voted to bring tax relief for working people in RI and across the country. The enhanced Child Tax Credit — one of the most effective anti-poverty programs passed in recent history — will benefit 16,000 kids in our district.
The bipartisan tax bill will affect the lives of families in CA-19. It would provide tax credits for childcare, investments in R&D, tax-free settlements for natural disasters, and incentives for the development of more affordable housing. https://t.co/hsXOPNtXvv
273,000 Washington kids would receive a greater Child Tax Credit through the bipartisan bill the House passed this week. I’m urging the Senate to take it up quickly to give middle-class families the stability they deserve. https://t.co/SB1xN7Bh57
.@HouseGOP passed multiple bills this week to ensure illegal immigrants who intentionally evade law enforcement, commit social security fraud, and drive intoxicated or impaired are deported! We must protect Americans from the consequences of Biden's disastrous open borders!
The bipartisan tax relief bill we passed this week restores the Expanded Child Tax Credit that expired in 2022. While smaller in scope than the version in the 2021 American Rescue Plan, it’s estimated that this compromise tax credit will uplift 16,000 kids and families in CT-02.
It's time for Congress to pass popular, bipartisan measures that will secure the border, provide our economy with a much-needed boost, and allow immigrants to reach their full potential.
In December, we saw the highest single number of illegal immigrant encounters at our southern border ever recorded in history. @SecMayorkas must be held accountable for his failure to uphold the law at our borders. https://t.co/IQIhZlaXdO
This week I helped pass bills that will improve border security and strengthen deportation standards for foreign nationals who violate our laws. We must do more to restore order and fix our broken immigration system in a comprehensive manner. ➡️https://t.co/itboPr0DRl https://t.co/XiXIfey5ID
A recent report estimates that about 162,000 children in Oregon would benefit from the expanded Child Tax Credit in the first year. Those extra benefits mean more money for families to use on essentials like groceries. I hope the Senate passes the bill soon.
