Federico Klein, a former Trump State Department appointee and Marine Corps veteran, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots. Klein was convicted of assaulting law enforcement officers and aiding and abetting. The Justice Department sought a 10-year sentence for Klein. His sentencing comes after a Capitol officer urged for a stiff sentence, stating that Klein's intent was to hurt him. Prosecutors said he used a stolen riot shield to repeatedly assault officers. Meanwhile, Steven Cappuccio of Texas was sentenced to 85 months in prison and 24 months of supervised release for his role in the riots.

Most Trump supporters think that if he is convicted and sentenced to prison he can remain free while he appeals. That is an option that is completely up to the judge. And since Trump has been insulting the judges in these cases, I would not anticipate leniency for him.
