A former Princeton University student who participated in the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, has been sentenced to two months in federal prison. The 22-year-old man from New Jersey was convicted and sentenced for his involvement in the riot. Another Capitol rioter, Kurt Peterson from Kentucky, is scheduled for sentencing today, with the Justice Department requesting three months in prison for carrying a pointed wooden stick and shattering a window. Anthony Sargent, involved in the January 6 riot, is facing a possible 46-month prison sentence for assaulting police officers. In unrelated cases, a man who squatted at a Yosemite National Park vacation home was sentenced to five years in prison for firearms charges, and an Oregon man guilty of LGBTQ hate crimes has been sentenced to just over three years in prison. Additionally, a Jan. 6 rioter who attacked an officer's gas mask in the Capitol's lower west tunnel has received a sentence of over seven years in federal prison.
