Former Fulton County prosecutor Nathan Wade stated in an interview with CNN's Kaitlan Collins on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump could still face trial and potentially be imprisoned in Georgia even if he wins a second term and is in the White House. Wade's comments have sparked significant debate and skepticism, particularly regarding the constitutional implications of prosecuting a sitting president. The interview was marked by a notable interruption when Wade's media handler intervened as Collins questioned him about his relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Wade's remarks have drawn criticism from legal experts who question his qualifications to comment on constitutional law and the potential impact on the Fulton DA’s office.

Former Fulton County prosecutor Nathan Wade claimed Wednesday that even if Donald Trump won re-election, he could still be tried and imprisoned if convicted—a belief that elicited skepticism from CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. https://t.co/8pmPmXDz0h
I wasted 30 minutes of my life watching Nathan Wade misstate basic constitutional law principles, try to defend his poor judgment, and then avoid (probably for the best) answering actually important questions by media consultant rescue. What was he thinking? He plainly wasn’t.
Why, pray tell, does Nathan Wade have a team unless this entire interview is to land a tv contract? And how can that be a positive thing for the Fulton DA’s office— I think it would be a constant worry that some internal deliberations might get slipped on national television.
Nathan Wade is not qualified to answer Kaitlin Collins’ questions about basic constitutional law. This is not insightful. And it’s a terrible paid contract interview if that’s the goal. Unless the role of a cable tv legal pundit is to misinform the public.
Nathan Wade says Trump can still be tried and even jailed in Georgia even if he’s elected President. It is dizzying to think what it would mean to have a sitting President of the United States behind bars, jailed by a local judge in Fulton County https://t.co/2JvSBuLcZf
