The program, supported by the Biden-Harris Administration and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aims to replace older diesel engines with over 2,700 low- and zero-emission school buses. This historic investment is set to save money in states like Connecticut, create clean energy jobs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a healthier planet. Senator Warnock was among the officials advocating for this initiative. Specific allocations include $88 million for California, $7.7 million for electric school buses in Nevada, and nearly $69 million for New York City, with 25 new zero-emission buses announced for Nevada schools alone. The program will impact 7 million students across 37 states, with 15 electric buses for Worcester Public, 50 low-emission buses for Chicago Public Schools, 120 new clean school buses for 5 Pennsylvania school districts, 20 electric school buses for Alief ISD in Texas, and over $19 million for LAUSD. Additionally, the funding will support the purchase of 15 electric and clean buses for the city of Pontiac, Michigan, and over $1 million for Canutillo ISD. The initiative also includes a $12.4 million grant for San Diego schools and $42 million for Illinois School Districts. In the context of broader infrastructure improvements, New York City received $15 million to build out electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
