A controversy has emerged at the New York Times over an anecdote involving Adam Rubenstein being shamed for liking Chick-fil-A. While some, like Nikole Hannah-Jones, dispute the story, others, including The Atlantic, confirm its details. The incident has sparked debates on media credibility and ideological biases.
At the very least, we should take from the incident the realization that many prominent journalists believe that Christianity has no place in American society. That is, that they are bigots. https://t.co/snrmri5jAv
The most interesting thing to me about the NYT chicken sandwich gate is the way everyone- right and left - just kind of accepts that Nikole Hannah Jones is not supposed to be taken seriously as a narrator
Whether the NYT Chik-fil-A anecdote in the Atlantic is true, made up, or real-but-exaggerated is less relevant than the fact so many prominent figures think one guy’s feelings about his perception of coworkers’ feelings about a chicken sandwich is an issue of national importance.
The fact that a recent article or viral quote about #ChristianNationalism may have defined CN too broadly, and consequently received backlash, MUST NOT lead journalists to back away from pursuing the topic & overt instances of Christian nationalist mobilizing around the country.
I can understand thinking the chicken sandwich story seemed made-up (though this was never *my* issue with it). Cannot (chicken) wrap my head around learning it was verified and becoming a truther on this.
There Are a Lot of New York Times Chick-fil-A Deniers https://t.co/9iLcBLeax7
Adam Rubenstein’s colleagues at the New York Times were furious at him. They snapped their fingers in unison. His crime? He said he enjoys Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwiches. The intolerance of the elites gets more ridiculous by the day, says Jenny Holland https://t.co/x5NdJqPsg8
Look, after this hate chicken sandwich thing with the New York Times, and after comparing it to the Kavanaugh thing, I’m beginning to think that maybe some leftist regime media types aren’t acting in good faith. There, I said it.
Are they saying that people at the New York Times would NOT hate on a hate chicken sandwich? Isn’t that a grave insult to the New York Times? Doesn’t that make the New York Times complicit in trans genocide? Well, dammit, I think the brave warriors at the New York Times have the… https://t.co/bknwAnA723
Am I the only person on the left who believes Adam Rubinstein’s Chick-Fil-A story?
The finger-snapping Chick-fil-A story seems silly, but it's an illustrative anecdote in an article about how the Times went ideologically batshit along with an influential chunk of academia, media, and non-profits from 2015 to 2021/22. That big story is the important thing. The…
Ex-New York Times editor says staffers actually shamed him during meeting for liking Chick-fil-A. Notable voices back him up. https://t.co/ez8OF2BvQi https://t.co/CZ93bhqHW3
Just so we're keeping score, the Adam Rubenstein anecdote about Chik-fil-A and the NYT was confirmed by three sources according to The Atlantic. Christine Blasey Ford's tales of sexual assault were not confirmed by all four she says were present. Guess who the media believes!
A whole lot of significant journalists and their reaction to the Chick-fil-a anecdote are trying to prove Trump was right when he declared the press the enemy of the people. But then they already had this reaction when @JohnEkdahl asked them about pick up trucks.
"Understanding contemporary American governance increasingly requires understanding Christian nationalism. This is not a warning about the future. Rather, it is an effort to understand trends that are already occurring, and which will get worse." https://t.co/2rPgGAYvaK
Atlantic spokeswoman on the Chick-fil-A incident that Nikole Hannah-Jones and many others claimed must have been fabcricated: "the details were confirmed by New York Times employees who had contemporaneous knowledge of the incident in question." https://t.co/KL0cptFB6B
The main impediment to people believing Adam Rubenstein's account of his betrayal and humiliation by the NYTimes seems to be the idea that young staffers "finger-snapped" instead of clapping and folks, I hate to break it to you but I saw that happen as recently as last week.
Nikole Hannah-Jones says Adam Rubenstein’s Chick-fil-a story didn’t happen. In fairness, she has a history of revising actual history to suit her narrative needs and the people who are providing contemporaneous accounts of Adam’s story are white, so she won’t believe them.
That Adam Rubinstein anecdote is totally fake! So you don't have a problem with someone liking Chick-fil-A? SCREW THEM AND THEIR TRANSPHOBIC CHICKEN *snap* *snap* *snap* *snap*
“Christian nationalism” would be a good topic for a searching examination. But that would take authors in command of the material. | By @RameshPonnuru https://t.co/edpvVfopme
