Federal prosecutors are seeking prison sentences for individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol riot. William Chrestman, a defendant, faces 5 years in prison for allegedly threateningly pointing an axe handle at officers. Chicago cop Karol Chwiesiuk, found guilty of misdemeanors, is recommended a maximum of 1 year in prison for breaching the Capitol and lying on the witness stand. A member of the Proud Boys extremist group, involved in the attack, was sentenced to 55 months in prison for threatening police officers with an ax handle and adding 'fuel to the fire' that drove the mob to attack the Capitol. Another federal recommendation seeks a year in prison for Chwiesiuk, alleging that he lied on the stand.
