The State Department has announced the opening of six new passport agencies, increasing the total to 35 nationwide. Additionally, 7,400 post offices and libraries are now accepting passport applications. In a bid to streamline the process, the State Department has launched a beta release of an updated online passport renewal system, allowing some adult passport renewals to be done online. This new tool is particularly timely, given the onset of the summer travel season. The new online renewal system is available to eligible citizens, including Texans.
