Jeffrey W. Thompson, a 59-year-old Philadelphia native, has been appointed as the new Fire Commissioner of Philadelphia by Mayor Cherelle Parker. Thompson replaced Craig Murphy, following his retirement. Thompson, a longtime firefighter, was sworn in under Mayor Parker's administration.
