Pakistan to Respond to Indian Strikes Killing 8 Civilians, Injuring 35, Citing UN Charter's Self-Defense Right

Pakistan has declared its intention to respond to recent Indian military actions at a time, place, and through means of its own choosing, according to statements from the country's military and foreign affairs officials. The response comes after India reportedly conducted strikes on Pakistani territory, which Pakistan claims resulted in the deaths of eight civilians and injuries to 35 others. The Pakistani military, through its Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Major General Ahmed Sharif, emphasized that the country's actions would be in self-defense and in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows for self-defense against armed attacks. Sharif stated that Pakistan's response to the Indian aggression would be 'devastating' and aimed at avenging the loss of innocent lives and the violation of its sovereignty. Pakistan has informed the United Nations Security Council of its right to respond to the Indian aggression, asserting that it reserves the right to retaliate appropriately under Article-51 of the UN Charter. The Pakistani Foreign Office and the National Security Committee have both reiterated this stance, highlighting the country's commitment to defending its sovereignty and the safety of its citizens in self-defence.
