President Donald Trump said on Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire after overnight negotiations brokered by the United States.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the truce will take effect at 5 p.m. local time, and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed New Delhi’s participation. The accord comes after four days of escalating cross-border attacks, including reported drone strikes on military facilities.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio added that both governments will open broader talks at a neutral venue, commending Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif for what he called their “wisdom and prudence” in choosing diplomacy.
