17 Portland Antifa Militants Federally Charged Amid Violent ICE Facility Protests, Loud Noise Complaints, and Resident Confrontations

In Portland, Oregon, a prolonged series of violent protests and insurrection attempts by Antifa militants against the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility has resulted in numerous federal arrests and charges. Over the course of more than three weeks, Antifa militants have repeatedly attacked the ICE building, which has required 24/7 federal protection due to damage including smashed glass and death threats. One suspect, August Dean Gordon, is accused of violently grabbing the genitals of multiple federal officers and kicking them. The total number of federally charged militants has reached at least 17. The protests have also drawn significant local backlash, with residents complaining about continuous loud noise, including music and profanity-laced tirades, which have disrupted sleep and daily life. Some residents have confronted the protesters directly, with one disabled Black woman going viral for her public denunciation of the militants, accusing them of terrorizing the community and calling for the National Guard. Despite ongoing disturbances and threats, local police have been criticized for their lack of response to the protests and related incidents, including assaults and threats against residents. The militants have announced plans for further protests, including a "slumber party" action and a July 4 riot targeting the ICE facility. The situation remains tense as federal authorities continue to pursue legal action against the rioters while the community experiences ongoing disruption.
