The 50th anniversary winner of the Lombardi Award has been announced as UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu. Head coaches Marcus Freeman and Chip Kelly came to Houston to honor their finalists. Latu, the first Bruin to win the award, was also named the Ted Hendricks Award winner for best defensive end. BJ Anderson has declared for the NFL Draft after appearing in only 3 games due to injury.

BJ Anderson is declaring for the NFL Draft, he said on Instagram. Already a sixth-year senior, this was going to be his last year of eligibility but he appeared in only 3 games due to injury. Would’ve needed a waiver to play a 7th season
When Chip Kelly told Laiatu Latu he was a finalist for the Lombardi Award during rivalry week, Latu told his coach not to tell the team as planned because he had a game to win. Latu won the game — and the award, the first Bruin to do so in school history. https://t.co/kDH1oM69bH

Will Anderson Jr. won last year and is about to announce the winner.
Very cool of head coaches Marcus Freeman (ND) and Chip Kelly (UCLA) to come to Houston to honor their Lombardi Award finalists, Joe Alt and Laiatu Latu. Other finalists are Brock Bowers (Ga) and Jonah Elliss (Utah). They’re about to announce the 50 Anniversary winner of the award
