Was lucky to have Hans as a hockey editor, baseball editor & supportive mentor over the years. Will miss working together every day, but congrats on a great LAT career https://t.co/093O6PoSBO
I'm late to this but was lucky enough to be seated next to @peter_king in the press box a few years ago at the AFC Championship Game. He couldn't have been more helpful, accommodating and friendly to a journo he'd never met. I'll never forget the experience. Happy trails, PK. https://t.co/1pcAag58VR
Happy trails to one of the unsung heroes of our business...Hans deserves bold-face headlines for a wonderful career https://t.co/vlikKqvkKq

You can't imagine how much work goes into a column like Peter King's farewell. And how much memory. But Peter did this kind of thing EVERY WEEK. And did it so well for so long. https://t.co/QZZLa27erv
Congrats to @peter_king on a fabulous run. Peter has been one of my most closest friends in the media since we first started talking in 1984 when he was covering the Bengals for the Cincinnati Enquirer and I was covering the Cowboys for the Dallas Morning News and we found out…

Another thing I was thinking about tonight with Peter King. He was being recruited big-time by ESPN and NBC in 2013 and I am sure for more money. He ended up staying at SI, forming MMQB, and his staying at SI protected many jobs there for a couple of years. https://t.co/xlUBHRFT4w
One of the greatest of all-time at his craft. Congrats on an amazing career @peter_king and thank you for all of your writing over all these years! Been a pleasure to read! https://t.co/A4eqqqdPUO
Host @HannahStormESPN and the NFL Live panel paid tribute to @peter_king today. Three wonderful salutes from @DanGrazianoESPN @billbarnwell & @minakimes. https://t.co/jxQyQG1aJj
Hosted Peter King this fall at Seton Hall. He is terrific with young people and, in a business at a low point, still communicates so well why sports journalism matters. Any campus would be lucky to have him. https://t.co/TXhpfO0cbD
Very nice to see that NFL Live took a few minutes to share personal stories of how @peter_king helped them earlier in their careers. We'd imagine there are many similar stories out there to be told. https://t.co/xfGsOQeZk4

What I’ve always really admired about Peter King — it was never about being the best or being a big shot. It was about impact. He’d seek out young journalists, telling you he really admired your work, because he wanted to talk to you just as much as you were dying to talk to him. https://t.co/H5Q0Zm1Phr
Peter and I have been discussing this for more than a year so he didn't catch me off guard. Just to echo emotions expressed by readers and colleagues, what he has done as a writer and story teller all these years has been an unmatched, remarkable treasure. His final column today… https://t.co/kZ5GwQRIYq
After I met Peter in the Bengals pressbox, I started to follow his career and, like so many of us, read everything he wrote and appreciated all the time and effort he put into his job covering the NFL as well as anyone ever has. His columns will be sorely missed.
Peter King is going to get a lot of offers to continue his career in some fashion. Choose wisely, but enjoy your "retirement" by spending as much time as possible with your family and friends. Watch games as a fan, not as one of the best reporters in sports journalism history.
One of the best things about Peter was how inquisitive he always was. He listened. He learned. He was so organized. He's always had so much integrity. NFL people trusted him. He could cut through the bs. He's done an incredible job covering the NFL. I wish him the best of luck.
I met Peter King in the early 80s when he did a Bengals dressing room story for the Cincinnati Enquirer at Riverfront Stadium. The veteran beat writer told me the "young guy" would talk my head off asking questions since he was sitting next to me for the Oilers game. And he did.
Wow. Congrats, Peter. Enjoy retirement. https://t.co/jKllBuWbCB
Legendary NFL reporter Peter King announced his retirement.... and then left Bears fans with the ultimate mic drop https://t.co/xA7xe6iRsg
Every time @peter_king walked into a press box, I said, "Oh shit." Best compliment I can give anyone in the biz.
Peter has been an inspiration, a mentor and an advocate. Gonna miss you at the combine, and on Monday mornings. Enjoy retirement, in whatever form it takes. And meow. https://t.co/BHj9ojwPyD
Friend of the show @Peter_King announced his retirement in his weekly "Football Morning in America" column today. Peter will join us tomorrow. Outside of his retirement, the fact that Peter wrote he 'supposes that the Bears will trade the No. 1 overall pick' stood out to Dan. https://t.co/1lpVBiFaGc
Maxwell is a fabulous reporter and editor, as anyone who has worked with him will tell you. I had the privilege of starting my career under his tutelage, where he taught me so much about reporting, writing, the internet etc. Wherever he lands next will be very lucky! https://t.co/XaHaj705Zu

Happy retirement, Peter! 👑 https://t.co/L034eKHktE
A great tribute to one hell of an editor. https://t.co/5B8v9CVhIu
This is a great tribute. I count myself lucky (and old) to have worked with several editors like this in my career. Learned so much. https://t.co/TrsKZEOz9D
In Peter King’s farewell column he went out of his way to say this…. https://t.co/Dp1ZRM9w9o
I don't think I missed any of his columns throughout my career. Always enjoyed our conversations at Raiders camp. A true legend in his field. https://t.co/b5EWgvFHCD
I don’t have the words to describe Peter’s impact on NFL media. An incredibly influential writer who inspired me to be myself when I write. He’s also a very kind man who was gracious with his time. Best of luck in retirement, Peter! https://t.co/Wp1fl4WmPq
Thanks for supporting me since we met all those years ago in Cincinnati. You’ve shown so many how to cover sports with empathy and insight. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you! 🐐 https://t.co/ygsZeZJ5tR
Here, here, @NFL_DougFarrar! Peter also was so great to Dr. Z and his family, ensuring Paul's lasting wish of getting his memoir published https://t.co/pizjJB7uaQ
Congratulations to Peter on a fantastic career. The greatest football writer of his time. Passionate. Eloquent. Beloved. And the innovative creator of a column unlike any other in the football universe. Our profession won't be the same without him. And that's just a fact. https://t.co/YecgRduLaC
Such a sweet tribute to an editor who sounds like one of the great journalism curmudgeons (in the best way) that we often see in journo movies. https://t.co/y0GdDDdhH8
"I truly don’t know what the future holds for me... Maybe it will be something in the media world, but just not Football Morning in America." People all over the football world reacted to the news of Peter King's retirement https://t.co/lH2p5IbezT
I wrote a Monday column on #MLS for a long time. The entire concept started because I read @peter_king every week and thought something similar should exist for MLS fans to read. He’s a pioneer in the digital space - and a man who deserves a hat tip as he heads into retirement.
Congrats on an epic run, @peter_king. People might not know this, but Peter is super supportive of other writers behind the scenes—a big advocate in ways both seen and unseen. Enjoy those fall Sundays sir! https://t.co/CnxbEgYrVI
Peter King stands alongside Tex Maule and Paul Zimmerman atop the pinnacle of Sports Illustrated pro football writers ... and with Peter Gammons as sport's finest notes columnist. What distinguished Peter was the breadth of his interests he shared w/readers. Always so kind, too.
We will miss you, Peter. One of the honors of my career was getting to present you when you won the Bill Nunn and went into the Hall of Fame. Much love. https://t.co/LgSxSAphwt
Peter taught us all so much. Obviously through his writing, but also in so many other ways. How to do this job with the utmost character and integrity. To mentor, groom and encourage everyone who crosses your path. He showed us you should never forget to still have fun while you… https://t.co/7XucbQVPqB
A one-of-a-kind combination of storytelling, reporting and thoroughness. And such a love for the game. I believe Peter is the most influential football writer ever. If not, he's on a very short list. https://t.co/s4ylqe44uo
One of the best sports writers/reporters of this generation with a must-read Monday AM column. I’ll cherish how intentional Peter connects with & praises young reporters — I was lucky enough on a couple of occasions — even thru his busy schedule. A legend. Enjoy retirement PK 🫡 https://t.co/GHfFdKbzuM
Thank you, @peter_king. You showed millions of people -- readers, writers, editors, players, coaches -- how to do a job the right way. This was taken May '18 in LA, 1 week before his last MMQB column for SI. Happy retirement, PK. Time to put down the phone + watch some baseball. https://t.co/Xh0rVNcFJ0
I was trying to explain to younger reporters a few weeks ago that Peter King was just *The Thing To Read* on Mondays. I don’t think there’s anything like that anymore. He did it comprehensively, and with heart. Happy Trails, Peter. Hope you enjoy the occasional lazy Sunday. https://t.co/xFT186mYAs
The retiring @peter_king is truly one of a kind. He’s incurably curious, perpetually gathering, trading, sharing information. Not fleeting technical tidbits but human stuff that humans care about. Such passion for people and the job. Unfailing in his generosity. Irreplaceable.
No one deserves some time off more than this guy. I’ve been in awe of him since the day I started at SI. Peter is the godfather of digital sportswriters. He was writing MMQB back when we still used Netscape. His impacts on sportswriting and the NFL are profound. https://t.co/fIhdAmNpgA
Wow. Never expected to see this. Let me get in line to congratulate friend & colleague Peter King on a HOF career. Peter changed the business of covering the NFL ... & changed it for the better. In awe of what he's done & how long he's done it: https://t.co/hRvpGu3iY9
You are a GOAT, @peter_king. Thanks for paving the way.
Wrote something on Peter that will be out a little later. PK used his fame at SI to create careers and jobs for others. No one else there could have done that in the 2010s. A prolific writer and reporter, The MMQB for me is his true legacy. Thank you for everything. https://t.co/fMDxJ2WL6E
One of a kind. Thanks @peter_king. https://t.co/yiwtWvZkLC
Pitch perfect final salvo from the great @peter_king. A relentless mentor, benevolent fundraiser and pioneer of a genre who changed and enhanced the way we consume football information. What a vast legacy. https://t.co/3giilKEnJX
"I’m retiring*. I use an asterisk because I truly don’t know what the future holds for me." Decades of memories and lots of gratitude in @peter_king's Football Morning in America: https://t.co/jdNMUuYy07 https://t.co/Cb0kxfpP9k
My Monday morning habit for…ever?…has been to read Peter’s column. I was lucky enough to go from fan to friend. Congrats on an amazing career. Here’s to more Boulevards together at Kauffman. 🍻 https://t.co/Kee1oJRuM5
The two greatest influences in my journalism career - @mortreport and @peter_king - have both now retired. I could not be more grateful to have worked with both and to have friendships with two selfless men of integrity, exceptional reporters and storytellers. https://t.co/RqluUPpBUa
